About English

Hey. I know that nobody reads my blog (except me) so I will make this brief.
I have not written in a long time, and I am sorry, because I have been sick.
(I will try writing this for the third time. First Time I left the page (turn off computer) without publishing and the second time, the cat deleted it...)
So... I will tell you what we are doing in LEAP English at the present moment.

You know that in the last post, that I wrote an Autobiography for the author Tim Winton... Well we now have to answer 10 Q's about the book that we did for the assigment.
I chose Blueback written by Tim Winton.

The Q 10 is where we have to pair up - or go in a three - and do a play/animation/video to peform/show to the class.
I was paired up with Catherine and Holly. I told them that we should not do my book, and Holly was doing Surviving Sydney Cove, so we chose Catherine's. Catherine was doing Max Remey, In Search of space and Time Machine.
We are doing the scene where Max and her friend first find the machine. Lendon (her friend) tells her that they should not touch it. Max refuses and touches it. They are teleported to London. Max lands in a bin and Lendon does not.
We have decided to do an Animation, and speak over the top.

I shall stop rambeling on and go to have some dinner.
Be back soon!

Tim Winton Biography

This is my Tim Winton Biography! I hope that you enjoy it!

Tim Winton has lived by the sea his whole life, inspiring his creative writing. He is a well-known Australian author. He wrote and published ‘An Open Swimmer at the age of 19, while at Curtin University of Technology, but he had already written 50 or so Short Stories. Tim’s career as a writer has been well established.

Born on August 4th 1960 in Karringup, Perth, he lived most of his childhood as a city boy. Twelve years later, the family of six moved to a sea-side community of Albany. Tim’s dad was a traffic cop, his mother was a telephone operator (before marriage), and Tim was the eldest of four, Hamish, Andrew and Sharyn. To top it all off, Grandma lived in a tent, in their backyard.
Tim recalls he was a model student, prior to moving, then to a rebel in his teenage years. His childhood sweetheart, who later became his wife, saw Tim write constantly during this time. These changes inspired Tim to start his writing career.

He loved going to the local beach and surfing all day. The tall tales and yarns around the dining table about the families ‘goings and comings’ through the ages.

Tim’s writing comes from his own ‘adventures', experiences and beliefs. “I just rock up to the desk in the morning and hope something shows up,” says Tim.
(http://www.abc.net.au/tv/enoughrope/transcripts/s1227915.htm) He usually sticks to Fiction Short Stories and Novels, though occasionally Tim helps with a few Non-Fiction books. Tim believes that nature is apart of everybody and we need to look after it, even the mean and the ugly animals.

Writing about what is closest to Tim has given him a boost. Living by the sea makes Tim feel as though he has a second home, under the sea. There is freedom under the sea. Tim states, “Let’s face it, you do nine months as a free diver in your mother’s womb’ you belong to a planet that’s mostly water’ your body is mostly water. I don’t think there’s any mystery why we would be drawn to it (the sea) – I think there’s some kind of ancestral yearning. We all came from water. It feels like home.” (http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/07/23/2962341).htm)

Cloudstreet is about two completely different rural families, torn apart by two different catastrophes, who flee to the city. They begin their lives from scratch, but there is a lot of sighing and muttering. The Lambs wait for a miracle from God to appear, it didn’t. The Pickleses wait for luck to come their way, it didn’t. So, these two families are living in a divided home that begins as a roof over their heads and then becomes a home for their hearts.

Dirt Music tells the story of a 40-year-old woman called Georgie Jutland. She has been kicked out of her own family, her nursing career destroyed and she is stranded in a small Western Australian fishing town. She is living with two kids, traumatized by their mother’s death, and the local fishermen. Georgie befriends the local poacher Luther Fox. Her life is filled with grief and regret. The journey of these two women who come to the road of recovery.
Tim Winton has won awards every year since 1981. Some of his works include, An open Swimmer, Shallows, That Eye The Sky, in the Winter Dark, Cloudstreet, The Riders, Blueback, Dirt Music, Breath. Many films, dramatizations and Adaptations have been done on Tim Winton’s many books.

Tim has also won the Miles Franklin Award in 1984, 1992, 2002 and 2009. A two time booker Prize nominee and was included in the Bulletin’s “100 Most Influential Australian” in 2006.
An achievement that Tim has rewarded himself with is becoming a member of the Author and Environmentalist committee. In 2004, the Ningaloo Reef had almost died when Tim Winton came along and saves it, turning it into a marine park. This is the storyline of Blueback.

Tim is very easy-going, willing to help others and has chosen a path that not many others have chosen, which makes Tim Winton a unique writer.

Quote

Being to see the future will save us, not being able to see will give us hope

When one knows

When one knows,
where one goes.
Then one should not
follow, one other.
For if one does not know,
where one other is
destined,
one cannot follow in
the same footsteps.

I follow one,
who is no longer here.
I can tell where they have
been, and what they
plan to do.
I can tell when to stop
and when to continue.
I know this,
because.

I can feel their fears,
I can feel their
sorrow, and I know
that it will all be alright.
I know that with my
deapest heart.
Thou should not be ,
tired - when one knows,
I wander as lonley as a cloud.

I know that when I look up,
I can see others looking at me.
I can tell that they know that
I can see them, as I can.
And I know that when I look
up and see them,
that I join them - and wander.
I can tell that you know,
as you have experienced it too.

Me

This poem is dedicated to myself, and others who know what I am feeling.

I am unique,
and I know it.
But,
What I don't know is,
Who am I?

When I look inside me,
all that I can see is black.
And,
in the centre of this,
is a bird.

The bird wakes up as I approach,
and he stares at me.
As I approach,
he flys away,
and that Hope in me is gone.

When I took another look,
I could see a fierce dragon,
who does not talk much.
He is black,
and he will not come near.

I can feel my wings take me,
into to sky, where no
one will bother me.
I know that I will be safe.
and be me.

I love quotes

I Love qoutes. They can be so inspiritional. When I think that the world is falling down, I think of this quote. For one who thinks outside the box (literally) there is no limit. Most people believe that the sky is it, that is Not TRUE!!!!!! Your limit is yourself. You may fall down, but I will pick you back up. You may fall down many times in your life, but there will always be someone who is there to pick you back up. Do not listen to what other people believe. What you think, is your limit. There is no limit to thinking.

I don't know what to do

I don't know what to do,
as I feel alone.
I don't know where to go,
as I feel alone.

I can tell you one thing,
be yourself.
I know where to go,
by myself, Home.

The bird sitting there,
is watching.
It ruffles his feathers as I approach,
but, he does not leave.

I reach my hand out,
ad I collide,
with the feathers.
They are cool and smooth.

I feel his emotions,
I can tell where to go.
He does not leave,
so, I don't let go.

He comes to me,
and sits on my shoulder.
I walk off,
and he stays, right there.

As one who wandered all night long

I cautiously took one step towards my brother. He was sitting on a small mound, that grew into the ground. Even though his back was turned to me, I could tell that he was upset. In the distance, I heard the Ompa's call. They were beautiful creatures. At least 20 feet long and 10 high. Their shells were very valuable to the Valley in which I lived in. My thoughts were interupted by a loud sniff. My brother, Fi, was 5. As I took another step towards him he turned around, and I could see his face. It was tear streaked. The mound that he was sitting on seemed to shuffle as well. I knew that Fi had great powers, and he used them sparingly. I feelt the ground underneath my feet move! Suddenly, I was lying on my back, and Fi had my head in an arm-lock.
Fi knew that it was me, but he was too upset to see me. I gently stroked his arm, and he let go of my head very slowly and he too lied down next to me. I heard his soft breathing next to my ears. After a while, he got up and walked into the forest.
"You know that father is ill, and we all need you back in the Valley. After wandering tonight, please come home." I said to his back. I knew that he had heard me, but he kept walking on. I could no longer see him as the forest engulfed him. I did not move. I thought about my father, and how my mother died to protect me. The secret room that I had not showed anybody, how the stars were shining down on me and giving me advise. Even though I lived on Earth, there was a deadly forest that was killing anything in its path. We were the only valley left, apart from 2 other races of people, that hate our guts! I suddenly became very angry, how dare Fi leave the family to suffer last year, how dare mother die last year, how dare.... how dare.... I couldn't think of anything.
I decided to go home, when the Ompa's call was very close. I heard some trees snapping, then silence. There was no noise in the forest, except, what was that? I jumped to my feet, grabbed my sword from its scabbard from behind my back, and walked daringly into the forest. My blue dress reached t my knees, and my shoes were scruffed and old, but they were comfortable. I was wearing a brown belt with my sword, and containers for collecting specimens. I raced deep into the forest. Twigs and stones were scraping against my bare legs, but I didn't care. As I approched the Ompa, a hand came out of the darkness and wrapped around my mouth. I could not move. I was opening my mouth to attack my attacker when I saw who it was. Fi had been following me ever so silently, and he knew that I wanted the Ompa's shell. He motioned to me to be quiet, and then let go of my mouth. I then realised that my younger brother had carved his face with scars. He looked closer the 10 than the age that he was.
I opened up my pocket of mysteries and picked out an object. It was cirlular and silver. I threw it at the ground where we were standing. The object expanded into a small disk, it changed colour to white, became more cresant like and turned into a flyer. It is something in which we all use now-a-days for transport. Very efficient and quick!

Death

This poem is dedicated to my Best Friend Catherine. I know that you do not like this subject, which is why I am writing it.

Cate,
I know that its hard for you,
for all that you have been through.
Please stop and listen.

Death is something that we must face.
Others turn away,
like it was a cool breeze.

I, however, turn to face it,
and stride up to it.
I then jab it with my finger.

You, leave me along,
I have not done my duty.
And I will never.

Being on Earth is like Hell,
and being in Hell is like.....
I want you to stay out of it.

I then turn around and
walk off.
He follows me.

I can feel that he follows me.
In my shadow,
and in my bones.

I will know when my time has come.
He will know too,
and embrace me like a friend.

Cate,
I know that it is hard for you,
so please don't turn your back on him.

Tell him to go away,
and maybe,
he will.

Haiku/s

These are some Haiku's that I wrote in LEAP English this afternoon!

Cats!
Watching the cats go,
ring-a-ring a rosie, like,
never seen before!

Birds!
Watching the birds fly,
like a liddle dot in the sky.
Come and talk to me.

The animals are
able to talk to me as,
I can understand.

Being able to
talk, and that is a rare gift
to tell someone what.

Poem IV

These are some more poems that I have written

Listen!

Listen, Listen,
Can you hear that?
Can you hear the water trickling,
trickling down the mountain,
Can you hear the cats,
having a chours.
Can you hear the possums,
sitting on the near-by tree?
Can you hear your breathing,
right next to me!

I feel like an elf,
because I can pick up on so much!
I can feel the trees anger on people,
I can tell where the stream is going,
and you can't?
I can see what the river sees,
and where the trees talk.
I can touch its water,
and touch its bark.
I feel emotions that flow through me,
because of these reasons.
Listen, Listen....
Can you hear it to?

Hope!

Everybody has hope,
weather you know it or not.
Your smile has hope,
and your laugh.
Though, there are some people,
who do not.

They don't know what to do,
for they fear for their children,
and their children's children.
They fear for their life,
and don't know what to do.

We must go over to these people,
and give them hope.
Give them a warm hug,
and clean water to drink.
Give them something to remember.

Remember,
we all have hope.
Even your neighbour that you don't like.
You all have hope.
Your smiles, your laughs and your hugs.
you cannot escape hope.
So, give some hope to others.
Hope.

A Smugler's Song by Rudyard Kipling

A Smuggler's Song

If you wake at midnight, and hear a horse's feet,
Don't go drawing back the blind, or looking in the street.
Them that ask no questions isn't told a lie.
Watch the wall, my darling, while the Gentlemen go by!
Five and twenty ponies,
Trotting through the dark -
Brandy for the Parson,
'Baccy for the Clerk;
Laces for a lady, letters for a spy,
And watch the wall, my darling, while the Gentlemen go by!
Running round the woodlump if you chance to find
Little barrels, roped and tarred, all full of brandy-wine,
Don't you shout to come and look, nor use 'em for your play.
Put the brishwood back again - and they'll be gone next day!
If you see the stable-door setting open wide;
If you see a tired horse lying down inside;
If your mother mends a coat cut about and tore;
If the lining's wet and warm - don't you ask no more!
If you meet King George's men, dressed in blue and red,
You be careful what you say, and mindful what is said.
If they call you "pretty maid," and chuck you 'neath the chin,
Don't you tell where no one is, nor yet where no one's been!
Knocks and footsteps round the house - whistles after dark -
You've no call for running out till the house-dogs bark.
Trusty's here, and Pincher's here, and see how dumb they lie -
They don't fret to follow when the Gentlemen go by!
If you do as you've been told, 'likely there's a chance,
You'll be given a dainty doll, all the way from France,
With a cap of Valenciennes, and a velvet hood -
A present from the Gentlemen, along o' being good!
Five and twenty ponies,
Trotting through the dark -
Brandy for the Parson,
'Baccy for the Clerk;
Them that asks no questions isn't told a lie -
Watch the wall, my darling, while the Gentlemen go by.

Rudyard Kipling

The Cats

This is a ballad in which we had to write for english.

The Cats

If you listen carefully and can hear very well,
Don't go listening to things, that you know are wrong.
Ask many people, and they will tell you,
Follow your heart
Follow your desire
And it will follow you.
Listening is important,
but seeing is even better.
The cats know what to do,
and they can listen.
They follow their hearts,
and their noses.
They are scavengers,
and they know what they want.

Cats,
they are everywhere,
and we cannot escape them.
You cannot hurt them because;
Follow your heart
Follow your desire
And it will follow you.
These words are purrre and true.
Listen to your hearts and it will tell you,
Cats,
are loving creatures,
and hate dogs.
They are ready for you,
when you come home from work,
or school.

Hiss, Crash!
you hear from the kitchen.
The cats are having a hissy fit!
You go in, and everything is well.
The cats are on the floor, looking at you saying,
"We didn't do anything wrong"
You walk out, and you swear that,
you heard them saying,
We love you, don't look back.
Follow your heart
Follow your desire
And it will follow you

Poems III

These peoms have been written for people who understand my mind and what perspective that I am writing these at. I have written these poems because I felt that Human Beings today do not get to understand much about what is hapennin in other parts of the world. Many people are so worried about themselves that they do not care about anybody else! I have clearly written these from my heart, and have not been edited once written down. I hope that you enjoy them and that they are not too depressing for you.

The only thing

The only thing that we need
We only need food and water
Not gameboys and iPods.
We dont need computers,  But,
We we use these things for pleasure.
While the people in Afghanistan
Dont have food and water.
While we waste our money on things
That we dont need,
They are dying and asking for help!
And we dont hear them
because, we are the only thing

The River

The endless river rolls on forever,
ans it creats and endless line of song.
It comes and goes as it pleases,
And wanderes where no man goes.
On this faithful day,
One man went where no man ventures.
And on this day, the endless river went
with the man who ventures where only the river goes.
The river and the man soon met ther fate.
And on that faithful day,
The river and man followed in each others
foot steps and then,
they were gone.

Let the world be told

We are the world
We control what happens
We tell oour people about our world,
And we should care for it more.
Tell all of your friends of this poem
And of the horrible things that have happened.
And what may happen, in the future.
Tell your mother and father what you plan to do,
And make a difference for this world.
Tell toe world that it is going to be saved from us,
and that it will have to wait no longer.
Shout this from a mountain top and let the world know that;
The people on Earth will save you and the wait is over!
Go out and shout this frm a mountail top,
and thell the younger and older generations what needs to be done

A Saying by me

I can always know when someone is lying, because they feel a guilt in their guts. They have the sad look in their eyes, and everybody lies in some point, so there you have it.

Poems II

The Stage

Getting up on stage is a real hard thing.
You get the wobbles,
Your heart beats faster,
And you don't know what to do.

When you get up on stage,
you look down and see;
Unsmiling faces looking at you.
You start to get the wobbles again.

Your first note is horrible,
and you know that this is going to continue,
So you take a big breath;
And get it right.

When you finish,
You take a bow
And walk off.
Then you tell yourself;
What was I scared about?

Friends

Having Friends is a golden thing,
and being a friend is a silver thing.
Friends are meant to stick up for you,
and help you when you have trouble.

Sometimes I wonder if my friends,
are my friends because I go something that they do not.
I makes me feel sad,
and lonley.

I sometimes want to shout at them,
Why are you doing this to me!
And they are also doing it to themselves.
I feel sorry for them.

Poems

These following peoms are my direct feelings and these things are true and they are about what I have done and what I feel. I hope that you enjoy them, even though they are very depressing, I just had the write these down!

Lonley

Being lonely,
I feel it,
I touch it,
I am it.

I cannot tell my friends what is wrong,
because they would laugh and walk away.
They are my friends because I know that,
they will not walk off when I tell them.

Confused

Left or Right?
Up or Down?
I always get confused.

Nobody understands me,
and I don't talk in a straight line.
I can understand them.

Sometimes, being different is hard,
espically for me.
I talk, walk and have a different approach to things.

Some teachers encourage this,
others do not,
and I say this out of my own heart.

I always feel that I don't belong.
I always want to have my own way,
and read my book.

I feel lonley and scared,
but I know that being different is good.
But I still wonder;
Why are they confused?

Control

When I go outside,
I can feel the breeze
blow across my cheek.
and then I feel a terrible thing!

I comes from inside of me!
I feel it bubble and boil
and enrage me!

It is something that I cannot control,
and sometimes I cannot understand,
why people don't realise that there are two of me.

Sometimes I am happy,
And sometimes I fall down,
and I even get angry with myself!

I don't know what to do,
because my friends don't understand me.
My mother is no help at all.

I don't know what to do,
and sometimes, I don't know what to do,
or where to go.

So I stay still,
and hope that that thing inside of me,
is Controlled.

My Best Friend

Being yourself is the best that you can be.
My Best Friend is a person/thing that knows my emotions.
They know when to come to talk to me,
and know when to leave me alone.

My cat is always there for me.
She purrs and tells me things that only I know about.
She tells me that she loves me,
and will always be in my bed.

My books are my friends,
even though they cannot talk to me,
I can tell what they are thinking,
And they take me away from the world that we live in.

I don't know who else is my friend/s.
I don't know who to trust,
or who to tell my problems to.
This is because, I don't know who I am.

Fried Green Tomatoes

In English this Term, we are watching the movie, "Fried Green Tomatoes". I love this movie and have watched it many times!
It is a story both set in the past and the present. It is a passionate story about living, loyalty and love. Idgie is a young girl (in the beginning) and is a tom-boy, where as Ruth is a brought up lady who always does right and knows what to do.
It is also a story about friendship and how ladies need to show the men what they are made of and that we are not just their toys, but as human beings with feelings.
I would recommend this to anybody who loves a great story and is ready for the unexpected.

Quote - Mother Teresa

"Never worry about numbers.
Help one person at a time,
and always start with
the person nearest to you."

English

The things that I love about English!
1. We use it in our every-day lives
2. We can be expressive and show emotions
3. We can tell other people of our experiences
4. We can tell people about things, NOT face-to-face
5. Writing stories helps the imagination
6. We cannot escape it!
7. We can read other people's stories and their lives
8. We can do many things with it!

Writing

I haven't written here for a while because I have been really busy!

The newest book that I am now reading is..........(drum roll)............. Watership Down!! This fascinating book caught my attention on the bookshelf and I am having a great time! The story is about one rabbit, in particular, named Fiver and his brother Hazel embark on a journey where no rabbit has ever gone before!! (Cough Cough!)

I would recommed this book to anybody who loves animals and espically loves reading!!!

The Dark Heavens - Kylie Chan

White Tiger. Red Pheonix. Blue Dragon......

These are all names of the most WOWed factor author for me. She opened up my eye and showed me what it is like to be in those situations.
Emma Danahuo does not know what hits her when she falls into John Chen's life. Little does she know that Leo, (aka, the Black Lion (because he is black-skinned)) is Simone's bodyguard, Simone is Mr Chen's only daughter and half-shen (or god) and John is the God of Martial Arts. Demons are after Simone so that they can get Xan Whu (John) to do their will. White Tiger is also known as Bai Hui is the only person that Emma can trust. In the second book, Red Pheonix, Emma can turn into a snake when she tastes blood or feels that Simone is in danger. In Blue Dragon, John decides to face two one one. Two one one, also known as Simon Wong, is a demon who wants John's human head so badly, so that he can become number 1. Emma pursuades the Demon King and they all live happily after, except for Simone because she lost her dad, Emma because she was living in Hell with the King until Simone demanded her back, and Leo who has been chosen to become immortal and he hates it!
The next series Journey to Wundang starts with the book called Earth to Hell. I have just started reading it and I love it!
I would recommend this book who loves a fight for freedom, a little bit of action and a chunk of romance thrown in!
It turns some myths, stories and trust into one "Hell" of a story.

Chinese Cinderella

Chinese Cinderella is an Autobiography of Adeline Yen Mah's life. Set in 1941, during WWII, Adeline describes how horrible chinese traditions and her family were to her. Feet biding was a tradition passede down for thousands of years.
There are three books in the series (order not as above). Chinese Cinderella: the secret story of an unwanted daughter, Chinese Cinderella: the secret dragon society and Chinese Cinderella: the Mystery of Song Dynasty Painting. These three books are the best and anyone who wants to read a good book and learn about their culture, this is for you!

Reading this book has definately changed my view about the Chinese. I would recommend this book to anybody who would like to learn about a different culture. It deffinately showed me why they cannot get different things done when they want to.

I will add another post after this when I get home so that you can read my arguments for "cultures speak to one another by their stories and texts."

Reading

Reading is something that I love to do. I enjoy seeing things through the characters eyes and know what they are feeling. Books give more depth to the character than in movies.

Persuasive Argument - Lessons should be held outdoors once a week when the weather is good

Do you want your lessons to be held outside when the weather is good? I thought so!
When we walk into school, we dream about being free outside. Our teachers nag on and on and on... We want to be free! We, as students, should have a choice when and where our lessons are. Being outside gives students many possibilities. Being outside gives the students more possibilites for their creative skills increasing. Their writing techniques will be enhanced because they are given a good and exciting eductation.
The sun gives the skin vitamin D. This is very good for our bodies. It strengthens our skins and makes it more natural. Being in the sun, as you would believe, would give you a higher risk of cancer. Research shows by Dr Who shows that one hour of sun a day decreases the risk of unnatural skin! Helping your body makes you feel better because you are doing something food for yourseld and others.
Students would like to be outside because they recieve fresh air. Fresh air is hard to come bt these days because we live in societies where the cars produce petrol and gas fumes. These are not healthy for the human body.
Another experiment was undertaken when 15 out of 20 students chose that they want to have their lessons outside. This shows the teachers that their students would rather be outside than in a classroom. This is because
In conclusion, lessons should be held outdoors when the weather is good.

Quotes

Quotes inspire me because they can lift people up. They give me joy in what they are saying, and sometimes if offeres me good advise. The Success Tip is the believe in yourself. If you cannot, how you tell other people to believe in you to? Beliving in yourself and trusting yourself are exactly the same. Doing something is different than thinking something. People do not trust themselves because they are afraid of what might happen, not what is going to happen!

Quotes

"Successful and unsuccessful people do
not vary greatly in their abilities.
They vary in their desires to
reach their potential."

My Story - Dragonite

The dragon wings beat down. Her blue scales reflect the sinlight. Her passanger knows how special becase she can feel the flight. Fei was riding on her dragon's back. Her dragon's name was Ash. Ash plumeted downwards, her wings flat beside her. Thud! Fei and Ash landed on the grassy plains.

Ouch! That hurt! Complained Ash

I know. But, because you are 6 months old, the last female in Dragonkind and, pointed out Femi, you need to practise your landings. In a battle, if you collapse on me, I won't have the strength to revive you!

Ash snorted. Several soldiers were rushing forward from the campsite. There was grey smoke in the middle of all of the tents.
"Femi, we have just been attacked! Help us! Save us!!!!!!!!!"

The Homeward Bounders - Diana Wynne Jones

The Homeward Bounders is about a young boy who has a pretty ordinary life until They decide to play by Their rules. They send people into other worlds to give them grief. They make up the rules and no body stands in Their way.
Homeward Bounders - They are regular people who have been cast out of their HOME world. No body can kill a homeward bounder, nor stand in their way. They wander the lands of different world until they come Home. When a homeward bounder is in a certain world, they get an itching feeling which drags them into another world. This keeps going until they reach home. Other homeward bounders help eachother. They use signs to tell the next bounder what is in that relm. They say, RANDOM, YOU CAN TELL THEM THAT YOU ARE A HOMEWARD BOUNDER, YOU CAN NICK FOOD HERE, and others.

I hope that you read this book because I certainly enjoyed it!

I am a river. A Poem by me.

I am a river, a beautiful river.
I run low and high, fast and slow.
I feel all of the bumps, along my river.
I can sense the happiness of the life that follows me,
and in return, I feel that happiness.
My life is a river.
I am long, wide and smooth.
I choose the smoothest course.
I can see around the river bend.
To what I desire, I feel, sense.
I can feel the hard times.
The boulders and rocks scratch me,
I choose what I want to feel.
My water is smooth, cool,
It gives me new hope.
A rapid rushes to greet me,
Like those sad times.
Now, my river is at an end.
There are two ways,
Which one will I choose?

In a river, there are many distinguishing features. Life is like a river. The wide river greets all with welcome arms, while a thin river gives nothing away. People should be a wide river. Choosing the smoothest course may not be your choice. It tells people that you are willing to go wherever you please. Living like a river is my choice. It gives me many opportunities. I can feel others, and how they feel. I can see what lies ahead of me. There are some surprises that give me hope. I hope that people tell the younger generation that, “Life is like a river.”

The Other Side of Truth

I have just finished a book called The Other Side of Truth for the second time. I believe that Beverley Naidoo has written this book so well. I was crying!
I hope that lots of people are reading this book as it shows that sometimes people must lie, this does not mean that they are bad people. It could be because something bd has happened to a family member and they had to leave straight away!

I hope that you all read this book!

The Other Side of Truth

For our assigment, we have to write an essay. It is called a formal essay. Here is an example of a formal essay paragraph.

Question: Why does Sade feel guilty about hiding the truth when they arrive in London?

Sade feels guilty about lying in London. In hew household in Nigeria, the family does not lie. This was not common, " 'You know how much I hate lying but right now we have no choice.' " (p 16) This shows that her parents loved the truth and she feels that she is betraying them. In Chapter 15, Trouble with the Truth, is where Sade and Femi are being pushed into telling the authorities the truth. Sade does not know who to turn to because she is in a different place, with different people and the people may try to kill her dad or worse. Sade also knows that lying to them could cause more problems! These are some of the reasons why Sade feels guilty about lying in London.

J.R.R.Tolkein

This quote is said by Bilbo Baggins. It creates an atmosphere where the hobbits are very simple and they cannot comprehend it!

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve!

Can you get it out of what Bilbo is saying? I can't!

About the books

I love reading.

I am reading The other side of truth (for the second time).
It is about Sade and Femi. Their mother is killed and their father always writes the truth. It is about how they have to survive in London. When they are meant to meet Uncle Solaja, he has disappeared to! How will they survive? Read the book to find out!

Brisngr!
Brisngr is the third in the series of the Inheritance Cycle. It is about Eragon and his dragon Saphira must fight for their lives for the Varden to over run Galbatrox. (spelt incorrectly). If they succeed, they will become known in history, if not, Galbatrox will rule the kindgom for ever more. But, will all of the promises that they have made, how can they keep them all?

Diana Wynne Jones (Author)
The Merlin Conspiracy
The Homewood bounders
A tale of time city
These books have captured by heart. They are so entrancing and I want to read them again and again!
Diana also wrote my favourite book Howl's Moving Castle, and there is a movie! I would recommended this book to any person who loves adventure, the unnatural and the extrodinaty! I hope that you take my advise!

I hope that you will read some of the books that I am reading!

A Quote from Christopher Morley

Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to be always part of unanimity.

Books

Over the School Holiday's, I read many books.
1. The Master of Books
2. The Book from Baden Dark
3. The Puberty Book
4. Eagle Strike
5. City of Bones
6. City of Ashes
7. Maximum Ride The Final Warning
8. MAX A Maximum Ride Novel
9. Eragon
10. Eldest
11. White Tiger
12. Mister Monday
13. Grim Tuesday
14. Drowned Wednesday
15. Howl's Moving Castle

All of these 15 books that I read over the holidays are all completely different. Many people should realise that there are many different authors and some of them have been made into a movie.
Books bring joy to my life and I hope that people read for the enjoyment, NOT, because they have to!

Snowy (Continued)

Snowy was relaxing in the pool and shining her scales in the sun, when she heard a terrible scream.
Snowy immediately opened up her wings and flew out of the pool and up into the cave where the Sphera was being kept.
"Let me gggggooooooo!" screamed the Sphera.
"I will take you to my master," replied the thing.
Snowy launched herself at the thing. She tumbled with this thing to the very back of the cave, until she stopped, with the thing under her paw. The thing was wriggling, it was black skinned, with its eyes as black as darkness, and it hissed, "you better watch out dragon, my master will arise on the full moon this night." The thing struggled for a breath and then wheezed louder, "the last ingredient is the Sphera, and we will arise once more." The thing was holding the Sphera. It then disappeared.
Snowy was very disappointed because she has failed to protect the Sphera. Disheartened, she flew down into the pool to think. She had just had the idea of going into the air, when she crouched down, propelled herself upwards and flapped her wings, she was in the air.

Snowy

'Roar!' Snowy made the forest calm once again. The cave in which she was living in was damp with the faint aroma of freshly cut grass. The birds were softly twittering once again, and the waterfall trickled down to the rocks far below.

The cave's mouth was more than 30 feet long and 20 feet high. Snowy stretched out her wings, with the ends gently brushing the black rocks. The sun was shining straight into the moth, and oto her scales.

Snowy was a dragon, and one of the last. She knew that the protection of the Sphera was vitally important! Snowy folded up her wings and walked to the back of the cave, where there was no sun.

The Sphera was a flat-like stone, and it had a rainbow tinge to it. As Snowy approched, a milky figure appeared on the front. "How are you today Keeper of the Sphera?"
"I am very well. I was wondering..."
"Don't wonder too much, you might hurt yourself."
Snowy was thinking of a come back when the Sphera continued.
"I know that on this day at noon, the person that we most fear will come, come. He will be wanting something that we cannot give. It is our job to be protected. He cannot speak, only relay messages, and he is a shape-changer."

She did not understant what what the Sphera ment, so she walked out of the cave, and down into the stream that was right below the mouth.

Snowy walked straight into the middle of the crystal clear pool. It was nice and cool, even though the sun was hot. There were trees and animals that surrounded the waterfall because some live in it, others needed water from it.

Finnikin of the Rock

There are the five days of the unspeakable, the three older daughters of the king and queen are slaughtered, Balthazar (next in line to be king) is slaughtered, the queen is slaughtered and so is the king. The baby Isoboe is also found dead, or so they think.
It has been ten years since the five days of the unspeakable and no body can get in, and no body can get out if they were there during Seronna's curse. This story is about Finnikin of the Rock leading his people of Lumature back to their home. Sir Tropher (the King's first man) and Finnikin (the son of the captain of the guards) make their way to the woman who believes in gods. A child, the same age as Finnikin is given to them, and she has made a vow of silence.
Evanynjin creates a large and exciting story by being correct and walking the sleep of those inside Lumature. The imposter King is killing all ofthe young girls and Evanyjin is feeling their every death and it is taking the breath out of her.
Finnikin must believe in Evalynjin and more importantly, himself.

I believe that everybody should read this book because it teaches you to trust one another and then you will see the better side of life!
